Hot as Hades today. Did not cool down much last night, so we started out with a warm house. Smoke wasn't too bad. The chickens are doing fine. They spend the hottest part of the day in the wet sand pit and that seems to do the trick. My 8yr old EE even laid an egg! The only one.
High was 108. ugh. 50 yrs my family has been living here and can't remember a summer like this.
Very high winds are expected tonight in the hills and the power will be cut as a fire precaution. How horrible for those people. Thank goodness we will not be affected. I would really miss my fan!

Where do you get your spelt? Whole grain or flour?
Just this afternoon I was explaining about the dark side of modern wheat to my dad. Got to find some alternatives.


Days are getting shorter for more hours!


Just in time to get home and plan and prepare dinner? I'm glad you got this job. I think you will feel good focusing on work and yourself for part of the day. Not exactly "me" time, but you know what I mean.


My dad was drinking his version of that today... his also includes a little stevia, lemon juice, and a bit of AVC... which I lamely forgot to bring him. I did remember the tomatoes, beans, squash and strawberries!


I never thought I'd be HAPPY to expect temps in the 90s tomorrow. 94... 14 degrees cooler than today.


I was thinking about you today. We had a bit of smoke in the morning, but it hasn't been too bad smoke wise.
Do you mist your chickens?

I did the cat box this morning before the sun came up. Smartest thing I did all day!

It's only the flour . I'm just learning here but getting very interested. Trying to make a starter from this spelt flour.

I had Spectrum in Seminole. I have Century Link now.. six of one, half dozen on another. There I had cable, here I have DSL that is just as fast as cable due to some booster in the line a quarter of a mile from the house. Only issues are during storms.. There cable went out before a storm, same here. LOL

Andddddddddddd good morning! Already fed all the kids and piglets. Just sitting here waiting on 9:30 to roll around for my first Teleconference with my new NP. Nice and cool out this morning,, so much I could have gotten done. :/
