Granny's gone and done it again

Did the vet mentiion Cherry eye ? Poor girl.

nope foot rot I believe is what he said.

But evidently this is by the "die off" of the bacteria. He did say (according to Robert) that if we hadn't gotten her in on Tuesday she would probably be dead by now. The booster should help and put her on the road to recovery. :fl

I sure hope she gets better. I hated when I had to either put a horse down or lost one.. I can imagine how you feel after bottle raising her.

Hi guys. I must have made tree trips to log on to BYC and got sidetracked each and every time.

Well I did manage to sleep last night. Exhaustion won out over steroid buzz. @Granny Hatchet I don't think I could stand being on steroids all the time. My bones are already disintegrating from Osteoarthritis/porosis and serum negative RA. It would just be heaping coals on the fire for me even though they do help me a lot. They do let me do pulse doses which they say won't harm my bones. 3 to 4 times a year I can do either injections of steroids plus toradol or medrol dose packs. Those are bad enough with 24 to 48 hours of hyperactivity followed by not sleeping well for one or two nights.

DH and I have been watching GRIMM on Amazon. I told him yesterday I was trying to smile a lot because it wouldn't take much for me to woge into a hexenbiest! He just chuckled and thanked me for the warning.

The pain is better today so I guess it is worth it.

That poor cow's eye looks like the ultimate owwie! Worse than the rooster I've been treating who had his eye put out in a fight and subsequent infection. Sure hope it gets to feeling better.

Rain here today, rain, rain and more rain. We did get a break long enough to take Diesel out for his walk in the pasture. Funny boy waits till all his brothers and sisters go outside and then dances by the gate separating the kitchen from the utility room and whines telling us to come get him quick the coast is clear.

The little devil is so smart it's scary.

Then the lumber company came with half our order....after it had started raining again. The banana bread I made made up for being damp most of the afternoon.

One of these days I'm going to get caught up with missed pages...probably not today but some day!

My friend and I went to Martinsville today. We had some fun, got a few deals, and Rural King forced us to buy chicks! Supposed to be all pullets and very cheap. I couldn't help myself! Pictures maybe tomorrow, I need to get the set up in a brooder.

Poor Curly Sue MASSIVE infection. Vet has given her all the antibiotics he dares until "maybe" next week. On tuesday she just has eye boogies BUT evidently this is some how better I guess. On tuesday she got Dexamethasone 2 mg/ml 5 units and Nuflor- per mil 12 units. PLUS a multi-min 90 -1 5 ml dose (mainly for the copper) and then today I gave Curly her booster of Nuflor of 10 units. THANK GOD she was a bottle calf not sure the others will let me walk up and just give a shot with out using a chute.

These were taken this morning. View attachment 2328123View attachment 2328124View attachment 2328125

Last time it happened to me was in Orschelns when I was in there two years ago and there were these 5 little bantam chicks that were calling to me the moment I stepped foot in the store! Mommmeeeeee! Mommmmmmeeeeeee! Come take us home with you. Y'all know how it is, that real plaintive Cheep Cheep Cheep you can't resist.
