I have memories of a very sweet chihuahua from my childhood.

I never socialized my dogs. I got / get very little visitors but they love everyone that comes through the door.

Mostly they become that way because of the way they are handled. Coddled and over-petted, babied and not allowed to be dogs. When the doorbell rings and they run barking to the door, 99 out of 100 times they get picked up and petted, which only reinforces the barking and ultimately creates a monster.

No doubt. My sister had a teeny tiny poodle that fit in her purse. Paid a prince's ransom for him. Lived barely a year and died of congenital heart failure.
