Yes. Leftover from wild horses eating it... supposedly part of that is to not draw predators toward the herd.

Foaling stall had deep pine shavings that would stick to the afterbirth. Not great for them to eat. They liked that mash instead. I can still hear them, the lip smacking sound when they ate it.
