you can tell, it gets very quiet... thats when you know to hide.

The birds and leaves got quiet. But there was a sound as of many airplanes up in the sky, all over. I was outside, seeing if I could see anything. The sky was dark overhead but light all around the horizon. I wondered if there was a fleet of weather planes droning around overhead, above the clouds, also watching for a funnel cloud... I could not tell where the sound was coming from, it was all over in the sky. The I realized. It was the tornado!

I ran in and told my MIL. She looked out the front window and said those weren't tornado clouds. Then she looked out the back and calmly said, "This might be though, what do you think?" I looked out and saw a textbook funnel cloud and started screaming! Then I hustled her and the critters down to the basement.
