the mutation popped up in the 1960-70s and was bred for, the breed was recognize in 1980s and has had a small but loyal following. Their personality is very cat like so you either love them or hate them. We are one of the few farms in MS that just focus on Lamanchas and the only 4H family with a living two time state champion

everyone gets annoyed by use because our lamanchas been praised by judges all over the US on how "tire to the breed" they look

You are such a smart girl and a go getter, I am proud of you.

haha we are still working on our herd, ATM we do have some of the top bloodlines but there a few others with some good udder attachment I would love but need money :lau unlike a certain rival I will not pay 3k for a "ringer" that never gets out of her class here

all of them are earless, it the breed special trait haha. The bigger ones are a day younger then the two more colorful ones. I assure you it a genetic mutation on the years, Lamanchas are the only breed with this trait and the only American breed recognized by the Dairy goat association. Their minimal size is 130 but I have a doe at 160 and a buck almost 200.

DD's last year of 4-H she ended up qualifying for round-robin showmanship and the goat she got assigned was a Lamancha - that thing gave her fits and she was at a loss on being able to keep good hold as they were doing "hand halters", ears do come in handy.
I have wanted a couple fainting goats or pygmy forever. Its probably a good thing my place isnt fenced. I already have too much to do. I thought I could toss my lawn mower if I had them.

Surprisingly they don't do much in the way of lawn mowing -- a lot of people get them with that in mind but they are more inclined to eat "browse" - brush, stripping trees of leaves, some hay, etc but not so much on "mowing" the grass itself.
They are adorable, though, especially pygmy babies!
I guess this a quick Hi & goodbye lol. Looks like it's going to rain so I had better go get my chores done before it does. Granny tell Robert to fill up your big tub & soak, but not to get his head wet. That will help with his achy body feeling big time.

Hi, bye!! Hope you beat the rain!
Was gonna post these before and forgot, but better late than never, eh?

Emma, EE. Her eighth birthday is coming up soon.

Bad pic, but it shows Bella's colouring well. She is fast becoming one of the prettiest birds in the flock, and very healthy too. She is a mutt, not sure what breeds went into the mix other than sultan a few generations back.

Sunshine, EE x Sultan pullet

All lovely birds!!! These three, though, really stood out to me. Emma and Sunshine are just beautiful - and your Bella made me smile because she looks just like my Hazel hen - an EE from my last flock. She was a family favorite because she had personality to go with her stunning looks.

Ya, those hair sheep would be more for me I guess. I still have the EE I got from you like this but she has more blue.
