If there are batteries, it is not a land line anymore. Landlines did not have batteries and worked with power outages.It might be a reaction to the warmth inside. Pines drop needles in the heat here.

phone company did something with my land line. They went to high speed internet and had to hook up to the phone. So it works during a power outage but it is battery backed up and only good for an hour.
