Granny's gone and done it again

They weren't that specific since it was national news. The southern part of IN was in the ice storm zone. I'm sure you will get snow. It's a massive storm.
I am the southern part . I heard ice first. Hope we dont lose electric. I havent planned for that but I have been wanting to get rid of this couch for a long while!

In other news... happy lunar new year. Gong hei fat choy! (Cantonese wish for happiness and prosperity.)

How was your day?
Okay. Not woozy today. I did some much needed cleaning and organizing. Need to do much more tomorrow.
Hubs' sister and her husband will be here next week for a couple of days mostly to pick up some of MIL's furniture. Will be good to get some things out of the house, but it's only a molehill out of the mountain.

If it's a screw in bulb, they make LEDs that will fit.
That they do.
I'm caught up.
...for now...
We got 3 eggs today! :wee

But you know it's because I went out and bought 3 dozen. 🤨
I'm surprised. The new girls haven't even skipped a beat with laying.
Is everyone gone? Before I go to sleep, I shall tell A Tale of Three Cars. Granny enjoys stories, she can wake up to this one.

This story begins with a big blue SUV that is driven by The Man. Halfway to work one day last week (Thursday?), he calls me and says he has a bad flat tire, he thinks he hit a rock and the tire is ruined. Irrepairable, he thinks. He gets the spare put on it, drives the remaining 10 miles or so to work and calls AAA. They tow the car to the Goodyear shop that does most of our repair work, I go get him after work, and we are down one car. No worries, we still have GirlChild's Jeep and my little car.

The Goodyear place says they will order us a couple of new tires and we wait.

Today, GirlChild's car goes in to a different shop. She's had an appointment for two weeks to take her Jeep in to get her rear passenger window fixed. It won't power up; it's been stuck in the down position for a couple of months and I kept forgetting to make an appointment to get it fixed. But I remembered, finally, and today's the day. She'll be happy not to be driving around with a black trash bag duct-taped over the door where the window should be, lol. So GC and I drive both our vehicles to town, drop hers off to be fixed, and then spend a busy day in town shopping.

About 3:45 The Man texts me to remind me he has no vehicle and I have to pick him up from work. So GC and I make a mad dash to his job and arrive just in time to get him. On the way, we get a phone call saying GC's car is ready - in the town we had spent all day shopping in. So the three of us turn around and drive back to town to get it. They will be closed when we get there, so I call them and pay over the phone with my credit card. No problemo.

However, on the way back to town, I hear a strange noise coming from my car. A noise it doesn't usually make. A noise like a butterfly's wings. Softly ... tapping. No. You don't want to hear tapping coming from your car's engine. As soon we get to the car shop and get GC's Jeep, I stop, lift the hood, and check the oil. And my fears are justified. There is but a trace of oil in the crankcase. I send GC and The Man to the nearest gas station to get two quarts of oil, which we put in, and we go our separate ways - GC to visit a friend, The Man and I to home.

But wait, there's more. Home is about 30 miles away. TWO MILES from home, I start to smell something not right. Like ... exhaust. Or something burning. It's definitely a mechanical smell, and not a good one. But we are nearly home. There are no alerts on my dash. We don't know what to think. We pull up next to the house. The smell is overpowering. I kill the engine, pop the hood. The Man gets out, lifts the hood. And there....

...under the hood we see the engine coated with oil and starting to smoke! And there is no cap on the crankcase. Apparently my dear husband, after adding oil, did not screw the cap on tightly and it worked itself loose and fell off!

Once again we called AAA and they towed this car to the Goodyear dealer. And we called GC and asked her to come straight home as we now have ONE good car among the three of us! Hopefully the tires will be installed on the big blue SUV tomorrow and then we will have two. No idea WHY my car had no oil, that's a whole 'nother issue!.

It was nearly 8:00 by the time we got home, and none of the animals had been fed. We have a few "jumpers," young chickens that fly out of the run but of course can't fly back IN, so we had to hunt for those in the dark. Found 'em, too! And clipped their wings, the little rascals.

It's been a very long day. Hopefully tomorrow will be a lot less interesting.

Good night, Grannyland. Thanks for listening, if anybody made all the way through this epistle! ❤️
That's bad luck. Hopefully no lasting damage on your car, and it's something easy to fix and you have good car-ma heading your way.
If it counts, I have a ghost shrimp :)
ghost shrimp always count. They're pretty awesome.
I went out in the creek this afternoon. It was very peaceful. Came home with a bucket of rocks. But didn't find any amethyst. Might have to visit a mine. I will keep looking. Nice shallow creek, i could walk around fine in the rubber boots. I wonder if they make rubber boots with liners.
That's a thing. I remember seeing that up north. You can also get "boot socks" that are warm and cozy - cheaper option.
