Speaking of needy…

So I have all these crazy plots. I need to get new wheels for my garden cart and figure out how to retrofit it to handle a harness. Put Goose to work! But then I think about it….and granted this wasn’t an issue with peach but goose is goose….he’s not the most perfectly well mannered gentleman on leash (my fault I don’t work him near enough) but he’s responsive enough to leash pressure and doesn’t try to knock me bum over teakettle. I worry if I teach him that pulling is acceptable that may change. I don’t know. I’m going to see working him with more vocal cues on our walks and see how that progresses.

I’ve got another idea where I’m thinking of finding a way of hanging little pots off the ceiling in front of the kitchen window - have a little hanging herb garden.

And then I had more ideas of container gardening outside. And that’s when the disagreements started….

So there’s a soils place that I drive by every day. Perfection! Get some dirt there, not out of my way at all, so minimal excess of fuel. (I’m sorry but I am going extremely insane with my fuel…cost of it being what it is, I am not doing any discretionary driving). But yay. I drive a big honkin pickup truck. They sell their soils by the yard. A yard should fit in back no problem (that I did Google). What i neglected to Google was weight. That puts me pretty close if not over payload capacity, which my dearest beloved pointed out to me.

What the hades is the point of a big honkin pickup truck if I can’t haul freaking dirt?!?! So I think I’ll call the place tomorrow and see if they do half yards or anything like that and see if I can do that. If not, then I may have to see about borrowing a friends dump trailer (and perhaps the friend to help drive since I don’t have much experience towing) and just hitting up a place in town.

Anyway. He got grumpy at me wanting to do this because “there’s other things we should do first”

Nope. Sorry husband. Growing food in these messed up times for ourselves and chickens takes some priority. Accept.

Besides what should I do first? (Other than cleaning the house which is a never ending story). Should I upgrade the cooling in my computer so you can play your games on it? Should I…hang out while you fix your fun off-road truck? (Which uh. See previous comment about me going crazy on fuel consumption).

Friends are going to the desert this weekend. I told hubs I was ok missing it cause cost of fuel would be insane. His response. Well I gotta fix my truck first anyway. Maybe we can do a day trip out there in your truck.

No husband. No. You are not taking my truck an hour and a half each way plus whatever off-roading your heart desires for pleasure.

Stopped by target on my way home too. Spent too much money but at least I’m stocked up on things now.
I don’t know what he barked his nose on, poor guy.
