Granny's gone and done it again

Tick! I was talking with the gal that brought my sister's remains to me. It was quite interesting that we got into quite the conversation. We talked for a long time. About ourselves too. She told me look up Lyme's disease because of my symptoms. I did. I want to be tested. šŸ¤”
I hope its not lymes. Cap got super sick with that.

He just pulled it off. You have to grab them close to the skin so you dont leave the head behind. That can make you really sick. Happened to Tom last year and he had to go to ER and get it cut out
See, they can make you sick. Especially if you don't get them out right .. of course if they carry that stuff for Lyme's. If you don't get diagnosed, it can cause havic through years.

Where was it?

We’re lucky to rarely get ticks here.
I'd practically never seen a tick before I came here. In Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, they're pretty much unheard of unless you go way up into the mountain forests camping. Then someone in your group MIGHT get one. Not like here where they're just a fact of life like ... mosquitos. Ticks are the reason I have chickens. I couldn't live here otherwise. I'd never step foot out of the house ...

Yep, don't see ticks in the valley here, but in the mountains they're there. Have a daughter that had many after a camping or fishing trip.

But you have up to 24 hours to get them off. They don't transmit it instantly so that's a blessing. Best to use tweezers with a fine point and pull straight out. My DH can get them out by hand but I can't. I have no fingernails.

Mine was in for quite a while. That sucker.. literally..was sooo fat when we finally got home after days of camping. But fat, full of my blood. I started getting sick a while after. I remember my husband..first one, saying, your always sick. You always have something going on. I did. I didn't go to the Dr. for it. I just got worse over the years. Getting MRI'S, blood work. My sweetheart took me to so many Dr appointments. Still, no one can figure me out. Figure, I may as well see.

You had guineas?! Wow! Do they do well with chickens?
they did ok with the chickens til they wanted to breed then the male got a little picky who was in his area. I got them their own place and they were doing great. A neighbor had them and all of his came here to live thru the winter then come spring all mine followed his home. Never seen them again after that.
