Granny's gone and done it again

They are pretty, but it's really the chemicals of the plant that do the detering, so at the end of the season, chop them up and leave in the soil.
There's debate about which vegs to plant together or not. I have all of my tomatoes, peppers & egg plants together. Then you pretty much plant a marinara/salsa: oregano, marjoram, basil, parsley,
cilantro. You can put carrots with your tomatoes.
It's called companion planting- plants that benefit each other by enriching the soil or deterring pests. One yr rabbits ate my young eggplants. The next year I planted them in the middle of the chives. Turns out rabbits hate chives and left the eggplants alone.
The guineas must've fig out this deterrent as well, as they like to dust bath and munch on chives.
The brassicas get dill and sage. Broccoli gets rosemary, cabbage gets cilantro. But cauliflower hates those two herbs.šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø
Borage replenishes the soil with nutrients, heavy feeders like the brassicas get planted w/plants that restore nitrogen, like beans and peas.
It seems to work pretty well for us. Plus my memory is horrible, so I spend the winter dulldrums planning out the next season's garden & refreshing my memory on who makes good neighbors.😁
Great info! Going to show it to hubs. He's the main gardener. We keep a pretty small veggie garden since our summers are so dry.

Oh, and for functional pretty, nastorium. The bugs will flock to it instead of the veggies.
I love nasturtiums. They remind me of my grandparents' garden. They reseed and come up as long as I remember the water!

He is probably trying to get away from the fox!

Do you know what kind it is?
Didnt see the foxes today. Hopefully they moved on.
Ive been told before by description its a black racer. (not my first run in)

Looks like one, with the white chin. Says they are non venomous. No problem!
And double bonus... They eat MICE (and other things).
