Granny's gone and done it again

In my experience, if a pup is not house trained by 3 months, it never will be. I had one like that too. It had to be either outside, or in its crate, or in hubby's arms. Could not have the run of the house, ever.
That's exactly what we're working on. He won't soil his crate or pen, but he'll pee in the room we keep it in. Only one poop inside... but that was the night we brought him home, after too long in the car.

go outside and let him watch you pee. It works!

I usually leave them in the crate in the morning until they whine, then let them out, as I feel the purpose of the crate is to teach them to ask. I say things like, "Good boy, want OUT? Let's go OUT," always emphasizing the word OUT. After about a week I will start leaving the crate door open but the room door closed to see if they will keep the room clean. Then I repeat the process in other rooms in the house till he's learned that the whole house is his "den" and is to be kept clean. AND to "ask" to be let out.
