Granny's gone and done it again

Robert had a she[hard dog when he was 3-4 yrs old. He cant possibly remember her can he? It got to the point where Robert was running the fence barking at people. He bonded with the dog and thought it was how he was supposed to act. He would sniff people when they came over and he wasnt talking yet. I decided the best thing was to rehome the dog.
My grandkids are always pretending they are dogs or cats. It’s a kid thing. Nothing to do with autism.

Do yall think if a husky is fixed they would be less likely to run away?
Maybe a little less likely, huskys are high energy and high prey drive. In the north where they genetically come from they were also used for hunting bear, along with being sled dogs that means they need to be able to run for long distances.

Did you have to get up .. a couple of times? 😁
Not once.

He may remember. Austin comes up with things he remembered from that age. I can't. Autistic folks can do some amazing things..that surprises us.
I'm not Autistic, but I remember when my sister died. I was just under 2 years old.
Have you ever been really, really thirsty, or really really hungry, Whitey, and you couldn't think of anything else but getting something to eat or drink? It's a biological imperative. God made them that way, and it's a good thing He did, or species would die out.
It's difficult to really explain the drive that male dogs have when there is a female in heat. All sensibility goes out of their heads. My brother has farm dogs, his male is the dominant male for several miles out from his farm and he still had five neighboring males show up during that time. There was no possibility that the neighboring males would get a chance to breed with his own male being the dominant one, but they all showed up, as if offering their services, you know, just in case.

Yep call of th wild. Male humans can be the same in certain instance

Healthier but happier?

In my experience unneutered male dogs are more inclined to fight with other males in the household, they wander if there is a bitch in heat. They scent mark more and harder to house break and all in all not as good of pets if not relieved of equipment that is only going to get them into mischief plus produce more puppies destined to be either 'gotten rid of' or wind up in a pound.

Females become more loving pets if spayed. Plus every unspayed female dog I've ever had could peg a new definition on the term PMS when they were in heat. Plus in heat they are as 'rambunctious' as the males are.

Have they changed the teaching that spayed dogs are more resistant to breast cancer and reproductive cancers and that males are less prone to prostate cancer if not neutered?

I've just always found that dogs are better pets if spayed and neutered. Too old to change my ways I guess.

My memory from growing up on a farm is that we always wanted male dogs, they seemed to be more easily controlled. Also, we wanted them to be intact because the neutered ones became fat and lazy, not so with the intact ones, they stayed highly active through out their whole life.

Tell dh your just keeping him on his toes.
Stuff breaks.
133! yikes.
Yep. He did eventually fix it.
My mom goes to court on thursday. I’m writing a court testimony rn. If y’all have tips hit me up lol. My first time…
Yikes.
are other breeds different?
I can’t remember context now Dangit.
H2o to be truthful I hope the meeting goes badly. If he wants a dog he should start with a well bred puppy IMO
Well bred/socialized pup might be out of the price range…
Raising a puppy is so hard. Do you think he has the fortitude to raise a puppy. What about how much he sleeps. Who will take the dog out when roberts sleeping. You can’t.
It really is. First year of goose I thought I was going to lose my mind.
yes he passed. they dont want pictures and they dont want me to bring bandit for a meet but I insisted. This is all on Robert. vet fees and all
With what income??? Did he get a job?
Hi granny land,

I bought a car!!!!

I've been working 2 jobs in order to pay my rent & be able to save for her. But now I can finally relax (a little, lol)

Here she is!!! View attachment 3419122
Nice!!!! I’ve always liked those vw hatches. May you get miles of smiles :)

Nope. Fixed or not, they’re independent roamers.
I think any male dog should be neutered unless you are a professional breeder, and yes, neutering makes them less likely to roam because they don't have the hormones that drive them to go looking for bitches in heat. They live longer because they don't run out in traffic and get hit by cars, they don't get in dog fights and so on. I also believe females should be spayed, because a lot of people don't neuter their males, who then roam and then your bitch ends up with an unwanted litter. I can't really say whether a neutered male husky will stay home though, or even a spayed female husky. I think it's just in their dna to not be a backyard dog, I think they may get restless or claustrophobic in a small area. They need exercise, they need stimulation, they need to run.
Ok there’s a lot to unpack here. I’ve known neutered dogs to roam. And I’ve known intact dogs to roam. Management is key and knowing your doggo.
I’ve grown to appreciate German Shepherds. They seem like really laid-back dogs from what little I see of them at the dog park. Huskies are definitely on the “naughty-er” spectrum—aka Snow. Great hiker, but will escape if allowed outside the fence. And she runs FASTView attachment 3419388
Chill?? ;) goose would disagree. Though he is settling down.
Actually they have proof that is much healthier for your dogs to not neuter them.
Yep. There have been studies at uc Davis on instances of cancers, joint issues, etc in various breeds and the difference in occurrences between spaying, neutering at various ages.

Goose still has his balls. I was hoping to get that taken care of this year but then my homeowners insurance doubled. Doh. Either way though he’s not showing negative “male” traits and he’s over 2 now so….
