Granny's gone and done it again

He looks a lot like a Husky-German Shepherd. Those crosses tend to be more husky-like. Husky also tends to mean less controllable. I have a friend that has a German Shepherd Husky cross. He has found out that the in-ground electic fence e-collar works very well with his dog. He really worked with her in trying to get her to listen and this was really his last effort to get her to stay at home.
Huskies hate getting shocked and stay well within the boundary, that fact is a plus in my opinion concerning huskies. You have to be almost hard on them from the beginning, but if they know the boundaries they can make very good pets.

My memory from growing up on a farm is that we always wanted male dogs, they seemed to be more easily controlled. Also, we wanted them to be intact because the neutered ones became fat and lazy, not so with the intact ones, they stayed highly active through out their whole life.
Our male cattle dogs are 4 years old now and neutered.....can you tell me when they will slow down and get fat and lazy because I need some hope to hang on to!

What I've found is that the females are better watch dogs. Our girls don't miss a stray leaf blowing across the yard. Spaying doesn't seem to affect that talent. Yes, they do get fatter but they don't lose that watch dog edge. Or at least haven't yet and the oldest is 10.

Rocki the ACD doesn't miss a thing and Spot, Border Collie/Jack Russell cross is mistress of all she sees and even things she doesn't see in her mind.

We hardly ever had more than one dog. I think having multiple dogs makes a difference.
Perhaps if your dogs would have half a dozen people to spend time with and were able to expend ALL of their extra energy on a daily basis it would make a big difference in how rowdy they are.
