Granny's gone and done it again

Thing about CA... it's so big, we have all different climates depending on the area. Up in the Sierra mountains, Tahoe got 521" of snow so far. That's 43ft!
It’s been oddly cold lately. I still remember when Tahoe ski resorts depended almost entirely on fake snow!

well guess I never really made it back last night…ended up getting up, packing some things, going back to sleep, and then waking up at 6am. I started a new schedule in school today. Classes are mostly syllabuses and introductions—which is easy work. Oh and the national Latin exam is on Wednesday so that’s just fun (sarcasm in case you can’t tell). That’s about it for now. Oh and we are due for a propane tank refill. No heater last night…just more layers

I had a chicken unexpectedly die today. This is our first flock and we are just barely under a year old. I also homeschool so we made the best of the situation and turned it into a learning experience.

Did a quick study on avian necropsy from breakfast to lunch, then got to it after lunch.

Opened her gizzard and found a thumb tack and a .22 shell casing.

I always thought chickens wouldn’t eat something that would hurt them like that.

We have a small burn pit where she accessed these things, so we are going to be doing a cleanup so this doesn’t happen again.

Just wanted to share from our learning experience

I didn't realize they would eat a thumb tack or bullet casings. That's a new one to me.

I won 3rd place in the winter photography contest!
