Granny's gone and done it again

I have not seen a lot of that around here - those that do it seem to think that we who live in the country always have room for "one more," whether it's a dog or a cat. Or, in some cases, a box of puppies or kittens. It was much worse in NM, semi-feral dogs roamed the rez quite a bit. And got hit on the highway, sadly. Here, shelters only accept animals from city residents. If you live in the county and have to deal with a stray animal, you're on your own. Which often does not bode well for the animal.
It's funny. the humane society deals with all the cities, and the county deals with the unincorporated county area.

Ours is all combined, city and county. And they are full so people just take them and tie them to tree or drop off at parks. It is so sad.

80F here, feels like 85. Humidity 77%. Almost 11 pm. Not a bad week coming up, temps in mid 80's, showers and storms.
When we lived in NW MO the weather started cooling the second or third week in August every year we were there. One year I deer hunted when it was single digits and one year it was in the 70's and I had to run a water over a deer that had just been skinned out and ready to cut up. One summer the temp was over 100 everyday for a month.

I am in SE MO, having lived here only since 2010 and this is the hottest year since I've been here. I have a ring of bulb flowers all around the house, and this year none of the orange day lilies bloomed due to the heat and drought. These are what some people call "ditch lilies," they are very hardy. My MIL called them tiger lilies, but they are not true tiger lilies.

We had day lilies in FL. Yellow ones if my memory is clicking right.
