Granny's gone and done it again

Did you just cut back one a day at a time. One a day for a week then one a day more the next week and so on? You can't guess. You would have to write it down or count out for a day and space them out. I think it will work if you don't rush it. Take your time. Better to win the battle over 3 months than to lose it trying to quit in a couple of weeks.. Like I said that's the math thinking. I've never smoked. My brother and I both have lung damage for our dad's constant smoking in the car and house.
I can see how this might work. Granny if you smoke one less on Monday, and two less on Tuesday, and three less on Wednesday, .... you won't succeed because you're going too fast and you'll fail and then decide you can't quit and give up trying to quit. But Larry's suggestion makes sense. It's worth a try, isn't it?

Also, any time you feel you've reached a point where you can't smoke any less, just stay right there for a while. For example, if you've been smoking two packs a day and you get down to one pack, hold it there for s while. Don't smoke any less than that for a bit, but don't smoke any more either. Then, after a month, maybe start cutting down again. Whenever you're ready. After all, nobody ever started smoking two packs a day, right? You gradually started smoking more and more. So quit the same way. Gradually smoke less and less. Until you don't need them any more.
