Yeah they used to call it manic-depressive disorder. It basically means wild mood swings, like from north (wildly happy) to south (miserably sad and depressed) very rapidly. I'm so glad to be on good meds, I can tell you that! At my worst I was swinging within minutes, not days, weeks or months, it was horrible, and I was hospitalized for it. It was terrifying. But that was decades ago. I've been stable for years now, thank God and modern medicine.

My family didn't believe it either. My sister said to just snap out of it. They just didn't understand. You can't control your brain chemistry by willpower, any more than you can control diabetes or cancer.
