Granny's gone and done it again

Hi Blue, how was your day? Im watching naked people. New one at 8.
Good, tiring though. I'm working on building a proper compost pile but it's going to take some time. We have a pile of heavy chicken poop and some scattered moldy hay. I have to layer them, hard work with these weak shoulders but I am determined.

We had to put down one of our old hens tonight. I've been watching her for several days. The only way I could tell she wasn't well was by how much she's been drinking. Tonight she filled her crop with so much water that when she put her head down to peck at grass, some came back up. She must have had some kind of inflammation or infection inside... she was at least four years old, possibly older. I didn't want her to suffer.

was she eatable?

I've either been working in garden areas or mowing. Just had a bite to eat and now going out to move some birds around. 4 roosters to the stage coop for processing Wednesday and moving 7 pet roosters to a new large pen. I need 4 more large coops and I think I'm done building coops unless I get some geese. BBL

makes sense. I guess what I really wondered is will you do a necropsy?
I thought about it... wondered if she is laying internally, honestly. Would have been interesting to see. But decided not to, I'm just so tired tonight and don't have room for her in my fridge. I have about four more her age and am watching them carefully tbh. They really all have to go pretty soon ... am wanting to make a run down to Arkansas to pick up some really pretty blue EE... half Ameraucana.
