I always put crushed egg shells around my maters. Prevents blossom rot and stops slugs both.

I know a lot of people do that but I'm old school and used crushed very fine road gravel. All natural and no hens needed. Actually I use it in tiny pellet form. It's not just calcium but has magnesium that egg shells lack.
