Pinecone is dragging his beak across the bars of his cage, and pacing, and climbing up the walls. Think he's getting stir crazy? I'm thinking of adding him to a brooder. Maybe I could put yolk butt with him, at least a few minutes.

Well so he is. Mr. Neon Pink might be a roo worth keeping! I need to sit out there and see if he crows. I can't hear them like I could in the back.

Forgot to tell y'all, the bulb blew out in the brooder yesterday. I knew about it, but forgot. It stormed a bit last night as a front came in. I got up early so I could lock up the coop to catch the honas and the brooder was dark and quiet.

Those bigger chicks had pushed the smaller ones into the corner closest to the honas (they still had a bulb) and were keeping them warm. I was afraid some would have smothered, but as they started to warm up and spread out they were all alive. It was in the low 50s last night.

Pinecone is the frizzle cochin that got pecked raw. Yolk butt still has a pea-sized ball, hard and brown like a scab. It's pretty firmly attached. I'm tempted to try the snippers on it.
