Massive Bird Nests Built on Telephone Poles located in Kalahari Desert of Southern Africa.
The Sociable Weaver Birds of the southern Kalahari Desert are known for their impressive communal nests. These small birds, facing a scarcity of suitable trees in the arid region, have ingeniously adapted by building their nests on telephone poles. Over time, these nests grow large enough to house over 100 birds and various other bird species. The nests, constructed from sticks, grass, and cotton, are a testament to the birds' social nature and architectural prowess. Photographer Dillon Marsh has captured these remarkable structures in his series titled "Assimilation."
