We have high speed land line internet. I'm sure there are upsides and downsides to every type of connection. We have internet when the power goes off because all the hardware is on a battery backup system. As long as a storm doesn't take a tree down over the lines we are ok. And it is very fast also.

I was trying to remember the name of the breed of RIR. It was the Heritage. They have the deep red feathering. Like I said, she was getting really pretty. Here's a photo of one. View attachment 3874031

This is just a true RIR. Most of the ones you get now have been tinkered with to lay more eggs and they are not true to the SOP like this one is. I want 7-8 hens like this with a couple of roosters to breed more with. They also don't weigh much more than a Leghorn.

RIR may have been used in the creation of the Buckeye. A lady developed the Buckeye breed.

I think it is cool that there is infinite variety in chickens. Kinda like in dogs.

Thanks, Granny, and that's not all! I was picking leaves last night and something bit me on my side. Then it started to itch, and I broke out in a big rash. Halfway down my arm, and Halfway down the left side of my body. Hubby put some itch kill stuff on it. Didn't help much. Even vinegar didn't help. I finally put that on, but it didn't help either. So annoying. Oh. And the biting flies are back in the goat house!
Even when I took a Benadryl, it was itching! But at least I fell asleep for a while and didn't feel it.

Oh man. Sounds awful.

Time to break out the peanut butter and saltines to go with meds. After eating more than the normal amount of those last night with meds my blood sugar was 90 this morning. May need more jars of peanut butter. Going to see if I can get a repeat reading in the morning.
