Granny's gone and done it again

Instead, LONGHORN! If you have one, that is. We don't eat out even once a month, maybe once every 2 or 3, but when we do it's always a good experience there. They have this garlic parmesan coating for a chicken dish that they'll happily put on steak (ribeyes!) as well. Goodness! It's SO yummy! And the chocolate stampede desert is amaaazing, tho enough for 4 people lol. It's like 7 different kinds of chocolate and you can actually taste all the nuances. Served with an extra vanilla bean ice cream. Oopsie, I forgot you like the healthy stuff. But others might be interested so I'll leave that part :p
I'm not sure how far you are from Lakeland, FL but there is a steak house there that is local and not a chain that was the best of the best. Even better than Longhorn. You got a free steak on your birthday when someone came with you and paid for their meal. Then their big special was their 6lb big steak. If you ate the whole thing it was free.

I can't help but believe sometimes it is my taste buds are changing as much as or maybe more so than the food is changing at the restaurant.

My taste bugs are in their 30's, and I think a lot of restaurants are getting worse. So I don't think it's you.
The restaurant industry is a bit strange in general, it relies so heavily on customer feedback but often the management is overworked and can't respond the way they need to with rapid changes. There's always the cost concerns and the moment they cut corners it shows.
On the other hand, some restaurants actually get better. I can't remember ever having pizza as good as our local family run Roma's. Granted I never tried any in NYC, lol. But I ate a lot of pooey pizza without realizing how sad it was until you have something excellent to compare it to.

We're in Ocala. I can't imagine 6lbs of meat, that's a recipe to get sick, lol!

Aw maaan, no Longhorn around here but sounds amazing. We'd order the death by chocolate for all of us and I'd just have a bite. Okay, maybe two. Lol. Do I like the healthy stuff? Weeeell, let's just say my body requires it if I want to stay above the ground as long as possible. And my GC (GirlChild, 23-yo grand-daughter still living with us) can't have the ice cream, she has the tick-borne Alpha-GAL allergy. No mammalian meat or dairy. Gluten intolerant now, too. Whee. Good thing she likes fish and chicken. Sushi, yay.

You mean she eats fish bait?

I lived most of my life in FL and only got to Silver Springs once. I rode the glass bottom boat just once. :(

I can never eat much. So when we eat out I always order my steak med rare (less well cooked than I actually prefer it), take it home and the next day slice it thin and saute it in hot oil and a little butter. Salt it and serve with an over-easy egg and toast and hey-now, that's a mouth-watering meal! :drool

Between a prescription med and Covid my taste buds got a lousy deal. Then factor in have to get a denture and old age.... I may not appreciate Longhorn like I used to. Ma seems to think they are still very good.

Awww...
It's to a specific protein, right? I thought I read something about a study they were doing with a treatment to help people handle the protein. But I'm not great at collecting stuff as I read...
If I couldn't have meat, bread, or dairy... uhh ohh.
