Granny's gone and done it again

curing sweet potatoes?
They need to air dry in a warm and humid place for at least 4 days and preferably 7 before cooking. I've got the humidity but it is 7-8° warmer than needed. I've finished the digging. Later today when I can go out again to mow some I'll put them in a big bucket and get them to the porch. No sense in tempting the rain man... but we do need some rain... Yesterday's rain was pathetic. It only wet about the top 1/16" in the garden where I was working today. The canning tomatoes and fall peppers are getting a disease. I'm about ready to pull them up and put'em on the burn pile.

I did for the first time have a great success growing eggplant and poblano and jalapeno peppers. Next year I will try one more time with sweet potatoes in a different location and with multiple varieties and see if I can find a way to grow them here. In Mississippi to my west sweet potatoes are grow for the major supermarkets.

I'm glad Bronwyn is working here at home today. I've been having that tightening of my throat and some pain in my chest again. I've been fighting high blood pressure the last four days. I wish I could take my BP meds like I used to. I'm so sensitive to meds that I can't take a whole pill anymore.
Well, whenever I go to the ER my heart usually checks out ok. They say it's best to come in if it persists, better safe than sorry. 😏 I will if taking my nitro doesn't work.
I'll have Austin pull that tomato plant.
Going to miss having fresh tomatoes. Lucky to have a place called "The Barn." lol.. they get in whatever is growing at the time. I'm sure they have tomatoes right now. Apples soon. Canned jams. They have BYU goods too. Their ice cream, at a bar for cones and shakes, milk, salad dressing, more. Also cute decorations for the season. Fun place.

Larry, quite the job having a huge garden. I can barely keep my small area.
My pumpkins are doing well. I'll have a couple out on my porch soon. Pulled my squash plant. Going to be pulling my Beef Steak tomato plant, maybe today. I think I'm going to get a few more Big Boys.
I've got a fall crop of squash that I need to mulch after thinning later today. Thanks for reminding me. I didn't get pumpkins started in time this year so maybe next. Here pumpkins are started late summer to mature in time for October sales and Halloween. I want to grow them for a few pies but mostly for the chickens.

On the back burner is getting a small vineyard up and going. Both muscadines and a new table bunch grape that is highly disease resistant to Pierce Disease that we have in the south. Then for kicks and giggles I want to cross the seedless table grape onto a muscadine. It's been done already and a seedless muscadine produced which I want to plant this coming November and make raisins out of some of them. They are small enough for that.

Just be careful with that blood pressure. I've just got mine back to a normal range taking a minimum bp med. 10mg instead of 20mg at a time. Twice a day. Benazepril. https://www.drugs.com/mtm/benazepril.html
