Slept in after being up hours in the middle of the night. Our day has started. First thing is to go out and open coop doors so the hooligans can run around doing bug patrol. BB in a few hours.

Hooligans are on official bug patrol and I'm chewing at the bit for Ma to get ready for the big 5 mile trip to get chicken groceries and some for us from the small town supermarket right across the street. I intend to order 5 more Muscadine grapes today and then start the trellis. First stage is to dig 30" deep post holes on the ends for 5" wooden posts. Then I must run a #9 wire from post to post after driving steel T posts that will be between each vine that will be 20' apart. There will be another #12 wire knee high for the drip line to run on so a string trimmer can be used under the vines. Monday is our last hot day of summer. Temps are receding into the mid to low 80's. I can handle those for 5-6 hours a day. I don't plan on working more than 4 hours a day though as the rains are returning they say. Hurricane season will be possibly bring liquid sunshine to us most of next week starting Tuesday I think. Y'all be good. No behaving like my 10 week old small game roosters. Those boys are into everything now. I've spotted 3 more that will stay for pets. They stay underfoot looking for snacks. Ma has them all spoiled.

Well I got dressed and ready and Ma sat down in her chair and fell asleep after 2-3 minutes. Guess I'm going to town alone. That's dangerous when I get turned loose in the feed store and grocery store the same day. I'm taking my nap as soon as I get home. By the time I make the turn to get to our drive way I'm sometimes nap prepping already.

I had a grape vine with grapes on it and about two days before they were ready to pick they all disappeared. I blame raccoons. How will you keep your grapes safe from midnight marauders, @LTAY1946?

20,000 volts... Low amps but lots of volts. Dogs, possums and raccoons. Armadillos too. Several strands of wire. The there is the first strike on them before I get the fence finished. A big trap to put them in point blank range before the spring crop can be born. There are a million acres all around me left for them. They like my food better than what they were given naturally.

Same with the squirrels that are into the pecans every year. They have oak trees and acorn by the millions but prefer my pecans. I prefer the go back across the road to the forests.
