They are doing fine. It was too hot today to try putting them together. The older 2 are out, but I didn't want to have to keep going out to check on the new ones. Plus I was dealing with the phone guy until after noon. Turns out they need to replace the main line... water got in and corroded it. Oh boy fun!


The description of the hummingbird in torpor sounds just like your chick. To me, it is a miracle. Whether it happens once or a hundred times, it's a miracle!

That's only half of it. DH shot that snake off the brooder. I tried to say maybe it was just getting warm, but it was certainly looking for a way in just after I said that.

Well, hope he got a drink while he was in there! Have you seen him eat and poop? I don't trust they will survive until the plumbing works.

Laz has 5 toes! Can you tell if he will have silkie feathers?
