Granny's gone and done it again

Gorgeous clouds @Cynthia12. We need rain badly here. only 2.7 inches all month and everything is dry.

Well my day turned to crap after waking up feeling pretty good and energetic this morning. Went into the bathroom to take down some dry clothes from the little drying rod I have in there and put my hand on a paper wasp that I didn't see sitting on a coat hanger. How it got in there I have no idea. Little rat stung me a good one on the palm of my hand between my first two fingers. I carry an Epi-Pen for bad reactions to yellow legged wasp stings so I had no idea how I'd react to a paper wasp sting. So far so good. Hurts naturally and is red and puffy but other than a brief headache no bad reactions.

DH hunted the little fiend down and smashed him a good one.

We have a lot of puppy mills here amongst the Amish community. That's where our 5 rescued cattle dog pups came from. Not so much a puppy mill but a puppy mill wanna be. Lots of Amish see raising pups as being an easy money maker. I do know families who have little dogs as pets but the majority have pups to sell at one point or another. Breaks my heart to see sweet dogs treated like live stock. Missouri does have laws in place to control the mills and I do think they have cracked down on them. But there are always loop holes to be used.

Austin and I thought we heard hail or sleet outside. I opened the door to look. It was strange. There were huge drops of rain, wait, they had ice in the middle. Small ice. Huge drops of rain.

My neighbor that bought her is a guy. He would never buy from a puppy mill. They've owned a few dogs I've watched reach senior years.
Pretty sure we don't have any around here. Too many folks that are against it and would report it. In fact there was a place that sold puppies at a place that was reputable in the beginning. Things started to change. Boy, didn't take long for authorities to step in and close them down. Have to remember, we're in Utah County. :)
you would be surprised. Lots of people started breeding during Covid. They don’t do any health testing nor show their dogs. Plus the doodle market is very bad.

Puppies and dogs shouldn’t be raised in rabbit ages or barns.

Bless you for rescuing 5 ACD s. They are a handful.

We found our 5 in a small prefab shed. Nice and snug. With a nice sized run for them to play in. When DH found them they were happy, fat and covered with mud. He came home upset, very upset and asked what were we going to do? He told the owner that he was going to talk it over with me and be back in the morning...oh! And they had stopped feeding them. 3 month old puppies. The Father had told the son that he wouldn't give them any more puppy food so the son found a dead road kill rabbit and a dead goat kid they had to feed them. And when I say feed them, he had thrown the dead animals whole in the pen for them to gnaw on.

I was upset as my husband was and when he said, how do we choose one or two and walk away from the others? I told him I would pray about it and hope God gave me an answer by morning. Next morning first thing DH said to me was 'Well? Do you have an answer?' and without hesitation I said, let's have breakfast and go rescue 5 puppies. They were asking 25 dollars apiece for them. I asked him what he would take for all 5 of them and he said 25$. I handed him the cash and we loaded up the little heathens and brought them home. No socialization, as wild as March hares. We lost one, my sweet Sidney to Pythiosis when she was a little over a year old. Very rare parasitical infection that is always fatal. If you are curious about it look up Swamp Cancer or Pythiosis. Close as we can tell she contracted it by swimming in our pond or a smaller pond that was behind our barn. Her 4 sibs are immune to the infection. Thank God.

I like to say the surviving 4 are works in progress even at the age of 5 but considering the rough start they had in life I think they are doing fantastic.

I hate puppy mills and wish they would close them all down. I do know that Missouri has really clamped down on them lately.

I saw the pill pockets but I think they are too big. She's going to chew it and get a bitter taste. DH got himself fig newtons and I know she has a sweet tooth. I chopped the pill in tiny pieces, smeared each piece with some fig filling and it went down real fast. I got some healthy chews for boredom relievers because she's not allowed to run outside except 5 minutes on a leash to potty, no running, no jumping, no stairs for 2 weeks. Right now she's fine just lying down but sometime she will feel better. I would rather not use the sedation medicine.

I missed what happened to this dog?

personally I think you would be ahead to eat the wrapper and toss the fake cheese. :D
Lol, such a purist! It's for the dogs, Twist but you prob'ly know that by now.

I tried to build another rack to hold the jars of glaze, but my ribs couldn't hold up to the pressure. I will work on it a bit at a time. If they're all on the same level on the shelf you have to pick up each one to see what it is.
Can you label them or put color code strips on them to make them easier to id?
