I had to cut open the foot on a friend's rooster. It was very bad. Had a core in the middle of it.I mixed up a home remedy for Rojo's bumblefoot the other day, about a week ago. It seems to be working pretty well, better than anything else I have tried so far. I started out using Neosporin then switched to Mupiricin for about three weeks, no progress. I used Prid for about a week and a half, I don't like that at all. It's really stiff and hard to use. I make a lotion/hand cream for myself out of mostly cocoa butter that I soften with something called Albolene. It's softer than petroleum jelly and liquefies on contact with skin. It comes in a tub. Actors use it for removing stage makeup, it's much gentler than say Nutrogena. Anyway I took some of this ointment and mixed in some activated charcoal, which is very "drawing" and will pull out infection better than anything. I've been putting this on his foor every other day for about a week and tonight was able to peel away some of the bumble scab for the first time. He was a little tender so I didn't take much, and it was kind of raw underneath but didn't actively bleed. I packed it with this salve again and wrapped it like I've been doing and we'll see how it looks in two days. I didn't think to take a picture.
