I'm back. I ruined about seven corn tortillas before I figured out what works. They were sticking to my hands so as I put them on the skillet they wouldn't lay flat. Finally I decided to transfer them from the plastic-lined tortilla press to a sheet of parchment paper first, and drop them from there onto the hot skillet. Hooray, success!
Still have to fry them to make tostadas for dinner. Whew, need to sit down a few minutes first!

It really helps to have the right equipment! I still have three more to fry in the hot grease but here are six of them. I did have to add a little more masa to get them the right texture, thanks Valerie! I've made flour ones before too but it will be SOOO much easier now with this tortilla press!
