Granny's gone and done it again

We will test market selling hatching eggs at the farmers market... Fewer restrictions on fresh eggs and limits liability. All cartons will be labeled fertile hatching eggs. After the eggs are 9 days old we have charities that we can donate them to. Good stock hatching eggs at $6 a dozen is cheap but still enough to cover feed and other expenses.

There were four dogs harassing one of the cows in the back pasture today. It was like National Geographic, wolves trying to take down a bull elk. I locked up my dogs so they wouldn't get any ideas and went out to yell at them. But just then the cattle worker drove up and chased them off. Wonder if they have cameras out there. 🤔

I've raised it twice. I was selling for $2/doz for quite a while, then my market dried up. So then I was donating to the Bread Shed, a soup kitchen. Got some interest and decided to ask for $3 and they started selling pretty good, then supermarket prices shot up. At the same time, cartons went up to a dollar each, when two years ago they were 25c!!! So I started asking $4 and now I can barely keep up with demand.
Sounds dumb but sometimes people wont buy stuff they think is too cheap. "must be something wrong w/it."

The one lady that buys every month from us brings us cartons. I bought a case of clear cartons a couple of years ago and I think they have all been used.
I would give eggs away left and right. I only asked for the cartons back. I guess that was too hard to do so I said .50 c. per carton and you would get it back when you brought the cartons back. That was too expensive too I guess so I figured it was cheaper to scramble them and feed them back to the chickens

Exactly right. Maybe they thought they weren't fresh. But I put the date right on each egg.

I had been giving eggs to my SIL for some time. Then one day she called me from WM to ask if I had any. I asked her how much were they there. She said $5 and $6, depening if organic or not. I said I had some and asked if she'd give me $4/doz for them. She said sure and has been buying them from me for that ever since.
