Did you know, if you didn't have any special devices to predict bad weather you could simply find a dandelion? They're one of the many plants that close their petals when rain is approaching so that the pollen is protected. The puffballs also do this with their plumes so that the seedling are less likely to blow away during harsh winds. Other plants like tulips, marigolds, and some daisies do this too.

You can also look at an ant hill. Before a storm, they will build up a cone around the outside of their hill to help keep water from washing in.

I love poppies. I planted some seed from Wishings yard and they bloomed so pretty but they never came back.

Thanks, Iris. I checked it out and it's on special at Home Depot. Giving it some serious thought.

That's where we got ours. They even delivered it within a week of the order.

@Rambling Iris I have never been taller than 5'1" so I understand, better than you can imagine!

We are not short, just vertically challenged. There is usually a ladder around for us to get the high stuff and we don't have to worry about bumping our heads on things.
