Granny's gone and done it again

I'm here! I had an appointment with my ortho surgeon this morning followed by PT. Didn't have to do the PT. Doctor released me! Can you say happy dance time?:celebrateHe told me I was doing great, just remember I was't completely healed yet so use common sense....yeah, I don't think he has been paying attention these past 5 months but who am I to remind him? No restrictions. He asked me if there was anything else they could help me with. I told him I'm 72, I have a bad neck, another bad shoulder, two bad hips but nothing was ready for surgery....yet. They'd see me in the future though. Probably. He did tell me that what I went through was a harder surgery than a complete shoulder replacement. Now they tell me.

Regarding PT/OT. Yeah. People do generally do better with the therapist, @Granny Hatchet so don't be too hard on yourself. When my mother started PT after one of her early heart failure hospitalizations, the therapist stopped by her room with a walker while she was in the bathroom. I motioned her out to the hall out of earshot and told her. Don't let her bully you. She is going to give you a hard time. When she got mom walking down the hall with the walker, mom went about 15 feet and said that's enough, I'm going back to my room. The therapist said, No. You aren't done yet. WALK! Mom walked....I chuckled. I wouldn't get that far with her on a good day.

I laid in bed last night for about an hour and a half icing my shoulder down. Couldn't hold my eyes open any longer reading so turned off my tablet and settled in....and here came kitty June Bug. Purring her brains out, rubbing against my head. I said, oh no you don't and pushed her away. She came back, I pushed her away again and finally pushed her back and held my arm up so she couldn't approach me. She declared defeat and took off to the living room. Slept like a baby till 6:45...when my little pest who was sitting on the bed watching me started the head butts and the feet patting my mouth routine so I figured it was time to get up since I needed to be out of the house by 9:20.

Weaving my way through Kirksville this morning took me through Truman University campus. set watching students crossing the street between buildings and couldn't help but think how young they looked and how innocent. I couldn't help but wonder what the world would be like when they were my age. Really horrifying thought.
