In Japan, houses are held by families. Each generation pays as long as they can. Another generation takes over. And so on.

There are quite a few lessons we could learn from their culture and ways of doing things.....family structure, education, values......

Good morning!!
We are officially on an adventure today. DH has no idea where we are going or what we are doing....just that he shouldn't wear anything extremely flammable, should pack an overnight bag, and had to sign a pretty significant liability rate that I did not allow him to read before he signed it. We will be going to a "diy"(with professional assistance) glass blowing studio on the coast where we will create our own glass float. We can't pick it up until the following day so we have to stay overnight. I put this at a casino in the same town so we can have a little fun. Neither of us is big gamblers, will each take our respective $50 and see how long it takes to lose it.
On the way back tomorrow if the weather holds, of course this would be the week we actually get winter weather this year, there is a cool little beach where you can walk through a couple of caves and come out to a waterfall that ends at the ocean.

It was our own fault. We drank and partied til we were 40 never saved a thing. Once we got into recovery we finally had money to buy a house. Then we refinanced to remodel because this house was a dump. It is what it is.
Thankfully our kids didn’t follow the same path. We were able to get good jobs with a good pension.

I like living in country but I can’t maintain an acre of grass. I will downsize. I would like to travel more before I get too old.

DH and I were not great with money in our younger yours either and frankly it makes our March into aging more and more stressful, but a little too late to do much better now. I am so glad that our kids have not followed in our footsteps, both her daughter and her husband and our son are in such better places already than we have ever been in our lives.

Elijah functions pretty well for the most part but still ... like the other day I made it to the bathroom using the walker but then realized that was a really bad idea, so I called to him and asked him to bring me the wheelchair. Which he did and then galloped off to go do other things. Never occurred to him that his suffering Grandmother might like a PUSH in the wheelchair to get back down the hall to her recliner. It was all I could do to even get in it!

You want a wheelchair, here's your wheelchair, bye!

Yes I think males esp can be oblivious to the needs of others.

So true. And usually once you point it out to them they're more than willing to help with it, it just literally never occurs to them on their own

Good morning Granny Land! Hope everyone is having a decent day. I feel a little better this morning after sleeping 14 hours. I have over done it the past couple of days so my body said "no more". I'm taking it easy today; the weather is not helping motivate me. It's cloudy, cool and threatening rain a good day to stay in my recliner with a cup of coffee and a good book.

Mare, How did you come up w/ this?? Its a wonderful idea. Nothing I would have ever thought of but wish I had. Hope you win bookoos of money! Umm, what is a float?

My aunt wanted too take me to hotel over on the coast. Each room had a different theme my aunt lives in Portland.
