My Sammy dog (Sheltie) is in the ER waiting to be sedated for "a procedure." The big dummy was chewing on a stick earlier (this is Ryder's fault, he taught them to do this and we live in a freakin' FOREST!) and Melissa noticed he was "struggling." To breathe, apparently. Guess he tried to swallow a piece and it didn't cooperate. I tried sticking my fingers down his throat to see if I could retrieve anything, but he wasn't having any part of that. Since I value my fingers I just had Melissa leash him up and pop him in the car, and off to the vet. He's to have an x-ray which may show nothing ($220) and a sedated down-the-throat exam. I hope they find something, I don't want anything sharp going down and puncturing his guts ($$$urgery!

) I don't always think in economical terms, but it is a factor. Dang, if it isn't cars or appliances, it's pets ... silly dog, sticks are for ... kids! Goat kids. And we don't have any.
