Granny's gone and done it again

Been on porch for 4 hours eating bfast-cheese toast & coffee. Then moving pepper & tomato plants into 6 packs. Transplanted some impatiens & herbs into pots, cleaned & refilled hummingbird feeders, fed & watered all the critters. Some sitting & resting between each task. Meatloaf sandwich for lunch & now it's nap time cause i only got 4 hours sleep last night.

Jane (and others), I got a few garden suggestions on fb. They said decomposing leaf litter from the woods for beneficial microorganisms, coffee grinds for acidity, and Epsom salts (1 tsp in one gallon of water) for magnesium. What are your thoughts on this?

mornings, Lost electric last night. No net this am. I guess Robert had to reset it. Kittys are eating drinking and pooping. I started a FB last night. I have offers of mama milk all the way from Fl. Building the suspense on pics. So far one offer to help rehome. Lots of advice and a few offers of milk. I have decided these kittens were dumped. They are too friendly . Thats scary to know someone was in my back yard.
For all the nasty personal/political stuff on FB, people will do what they can to help little defenseless critters. :) I bet you get more offers of help. Keep updating your page and let the angels help you!

I have heard about coffee grounds being a very good thing. Better to use leaf litter that is mostly done composting. The microbes will still be there. I forget exactly what happens, but the process of composting actually requires a specific nutrient (nitrogen maybe?) so if you have a lot of composting activity, your growing plants will be competing for nitrogen (if I am remembering right). Never heard of using epsom salts, but sounds legit for increasing Mg. Good opportunity for some experimenting... try it on half the plants and see if you notice a difference.

So, my honey has a huge long list of things he wants to do today, and I am going to help him with his list so we can watch the basketball game tonight, guilt free! It is a beautiful morning here... hoping it doesn't get too hot today. Hope everyone has a good Sunday. See you later! :frow

IF I remember right its wood chips and wood type products that require nitrogen to decompose.
