Tom drinks gatoraid all the time so when I get babies I just steal his . They like the red fruit punch. I dont measure but less then 1/3 to the quart .

is there something marigolds like in the soil that tomatoes dont ?

No clue. They're supposed to be good companions... Those real tall ones started as seeds and grew next to the coop so I'm sure there was plenty of nitrogen.

ohh and something you cant give the tomatoes. I would try to plant some tomatoes over by the coops . (for your own use)

I don't at all. I just seem to have really great luck with marigolds. And petunias. This was the first marigold I ever grew (couple years back) next to the 4ft chicken coop.
