I don't think I'd die, just go into my glazed sub-state I retreat into when it hits 80 or above.... Then again, I can't say, 'cos I've never been in anything above 90.

The skunks are driving me crazy right now! The dog seems to think they are cats and can't understand why they don't jump the fence when he barks at them, and why the turn their backs with their tails up!!! Arg! We got home to a hot house last night (boys only opened front and back doors) so first thing I went around opening windows. Second thing was I went back and closed up half the windows because a skunk had let loose right near the house. Fortunately, Scooter was NOT involved this time!I went to help DH with yard work before he had to leave for his real work...
Right at the heat of the day...100 plus out...My shirt was soaking wet in ten minutes.
I noticed a hole leading under our covered patio's decking.....I saw the skunk run into that hole last night...so I'm guessing I have skunks living under my deck?
DH told me to block the hole....heck no I don't want them dying under there...
I have no clue what I am going to do.
I think I am going to watch tonight with the bb gun, but I suck at aiming..
the kids are great..but they are scared to sit out and wait for it...
I'm tired and need a nap!
Good enough?
That is just too hot.108 today, 108 yesterday, 105 the day before.![]()
First chance I had, I sat down to check in here. Think I got a pm to you before I passed out!wonder if Wishing has made it home ..
Bout the time you asked, Hubs and I stopped on the way home and were have a quick dinner at Taco Bell.Hey Wishing, you out there?
My tolbunt baby is looking hen.
I think that's a great idea. A good layer with good feed conversion that dresses out to a decent sized roaster AND is pretty to look at. Now what would that be? For you, maybe white rocks or the sussex?? Doesn't really matter, because I don't think you will ever be able to have just one type of chicken!!this is why I think if you want to pick a breed to raise it should be a heritage bird. All these others are fads for most and are going to come and go in popularity. By the time you get a good breeding stock people are off to the next breed.
Jane, that's how I grew up. We were always prepared for a power outage. Worst thing was not having water, and the creeks on the farm were only seasonal, so no water from them in the summer. Luckily, power almost always went out in the rainy season, so at least we could get water for the animals and to flush the toilets. It makes you very resourceful. Even now, power rarely goes out, but I am still prepared!!Forgot to tell that our power was off for an hour+ yesterday. Seems to go off every time. The wind blows.
We've actually had people die from the heat here. I use to work at a sheet metal shop that made giant air conditions. Funny that we made them but we didn't even have ac. Anyway we had people falling out all the time because of heat. Only one or two died though.I don't think I'd die, just go into my glazed sub-state I retreat into when it hits 80 or above.... We squeeze by week to week. Eat less, try to make do with what we got and buy only the things we need. Heck we buy milk, pour a little over a quarter in a separate jug then top the one that is three quarters of the way full off with water. Add a little water to the emptier jug and instead of one gallon, we have a gallon and a half. Stuff like that. How do you afford that?
Funny in my youth ,I took a job on an a/c installation crew. After we got the air handler ( the big fan ) installed and wired up , I turned it on while we were installing the duct work to keep from roasting . There was 5 or 6 of us in the attic . I was the only one fired lol !!!!We've actually had people die from the heat here. I use to work at a sheet metal shop that made giant air conditions. lol The would be my luck. AHU builders work in the heat, electricians work in the dark, and plumbers work without water lol.Funny in my youth ,I took a job on an a/c installation crew.
