Thanks. I tried to do that back when I had motivation, lol.... Didn't work.Banty, the little ones you can make a game of it. Give them each a bin and let them "shop" for favorite toys. Have them put other toys that don't fit in bin into boxes and tape them shut, mark them. Open them only when they have all their toys in the bin and want to shop more. They can swap out toys, maybe every two weeks like that. Then there is less stuff laying around and they can see what they have . If they need to clean up, they fill the bin. They should each have a hamper so when clothes come off they go in the hamper. Bigger kids, motivate by reward like trip to the mall or park , board games or whatever they like to do. Having certain days to clean can help too. Not you want them to clean, it is the day to clean then we can do something fun. What have you got to lose? They might like it.

What finally seems to be working is everybody cleans up. You don't clean a room? You don't eat. Little ones get help, of course. Still takes some of them a donkey's age to finish up but at least it gets done most days. By not letting the rooms get knee-deep in junk it's less overwhelming.
