Granny's gone and done it again

Phew, they had me a bit worried. Nothing worse than a lost pet except a lost child.:hugs Lucky them and lucky you.

Our old lab would travel the camp and swim in the river. We never had any trouble til the neighbor took in a stray. Both took off and we never saw them again. We looked for years, even though we only waited a month or so to get Jewel. Now anytime the pups get out of sight I start getting anxious.

Oh gosh, i had a Sheltie get lost when i was pregnant... i was a wreck. Boyscouts found her. Our Siamese cat we used to have, Jazzy, got lost and i found her. Our Standard poodle got lost, found her as well. Our pets have always been stay in the house or yard pets so they have no idea how to be safe if loose. Here we have so much space they just hang out with us. Almost never past our mailbox, which is at the end of a dirt road. We are very lucky with our Shepherd, Mini since we adopted her just before we moved here as a year old dog. She bonded with me right away, and she loves my husband too. Never had a problem with her, she just acts like she has always been our dog. Perfect!

Jewel was a homebody and extremely shy. We'd had her for a week at least before she jumped on the sofa by DD and we decided maybe there was hope. Before that point she hid under the recliners when we let her out of the crate. We got her at 6 weeks. She wouldn't let anyone pet her until she got to know them. She was raised by Dolly, my cavalier. When Dolly died Jewel was depressed and acted out. We were a single-dog family for a year, then got Jasper as an 8-wk pup. Jasper worked wonders on Jewel's personality, and her jealousy outweighed her anxiety. Now she sniffs strangers and let's the campers pet her. But now she also runs off from home. :/
