Granny's gone and done it again

Lots of wood around here too. But if they want it for free they have to cut it and haul it.

Do you have a chipper for the pine? Could use it for chicken bedding in the coop.
Nope, i mentioned it to DH but he says they are noisy and need sharpening a lot. Guess i am going to have to keep buying shavings.

I think he’s just worried you’d get mad one day and shove him in lol Could you rent one cheap and then bag the shavings?

Most of the trees that are dead lost their branches long ago and the trunks are too big to chip. Most of the wood is rotten and soggy too. Just not happening. Any way, i have lots of stuff to keep me busy.

My car died-over 300,000 miles. Dh & me went to buy a new(to us=used) 2007 Ford explorer sport trac. Fed critters. Finally a few minutes to rest.
That's what we have! Bought a used 2001 years ago. It is my temporary chicken coop... 13 big hens sleeping in the back out in the street right now.

I can't imagine being over there. How scary. Wishing if you need anything let me know. I just got another chicenareaset up and I could watch your chickens if you need it. We got a great deal on coop local.
Thank you, h2o, for the very nice offer, but we seem to be managing using the truck for a coop at night. They also are using the fairgrounds as emergency quarters for animals. There is plenty of room, and if necessary, I'm sure they'd give me an empty stall to house the birds. I'd rather have them here, though, so we get the eggs. :)

Wishing, did chomp have fertile eggs?
If you ever want any let me know. I wil even take back the roosters if you hatch any.
Another very nice offer, but I don't have room for more in the coop right now. Shame, because yours are so pretty! I don't keep a large rooster since we are so close to several neighbors. Maybe I will take you up on the offer when my older hens pass on and there's room on the roost.

Nothing much new to report. The high winds forecast for today never materialized, so the firefighters made great progress against the fires. Still a long way to go. It was very smokey today, but cleared up this evening so hubs and I took Scooter for a nice walk on the path along the creek. We were hoping to wear him out... don't think it worked. He still wants to play.

I was planning to go to sleep but laying here with drops in my ear. Tomorrow will be another day of burning trash wood. I hope to start cutting the trail to the new hoop coop site. It is going to be getting colder here soon, i guess i should buy more long work pants.
