Granny's gone and done it again

I had problems with heat lamps in winter for the goats until i started building cages for them. Our barn almost burned down twice. I was always going out at odd hours to check for predators, and goats giving birth on the sly. It is an awful feeling to see smoke coming out of a building that has no wood stove! I caught it in time in both cases.

I have thought about it. Was even looking at taking the train. Hubs is off to Toronto until Sunday, so I have to be here. But next year... #2 will have his license and I will be free!
it would take a couple days by train but you would get to see a lot !

it was extension cords both times in my case .

Isn't it amazing how a fragrance can jog your memory like that? Sometimes I will smell something and I will know what it is but I can't recall it. That bugs the daylights out of me
Smell is one of the strongest memory triggers. It's instantaneous and feels like I have zipped back in time. Rain on hot asphalt takes me back to warm summer nights and fireflies. :)

first aid supplys, extra pet food and maybe some bottled water ?
Yeah, i am obsessive about medical supplies. Sewed myself up once. Crazy nurse warning!
We do keep an extra bag of all pet and livestock food on hand. Also bottled water, and we have a well and the river.

That's scary. A BYC member lost her barn a couple years back, including her dog who stayed with the stock. Heartbreaking.

Yes, see the Rockies and all of the leaves!!!

I had cords running all over our 10 acres. Had a light in every coop (all 20+ of them!).
I am pleased husband had power run to all our outbuildings, and is going to do the goat shed as well. Much better. He had frost free hydrants put in by the garage and the garden. We still need a well with a hand pump imo.
