Granny's gone and done it again

mary jane is a herb . I hear there are so many different kinds now that target different pains and its legal there right ?
Yes, in CA and a few other states. They recently voted in recreational use too. The medicinal stuff comes in tinctures, pills, and in edible things (brownies anyone?). Some will smoke it too, but there are lots of options. Supposed to be good medicine for some cancer pain, and helps increase appetite. Biggest problem I see is that it is not regulated, so you never really know what you are getting. Some patients died from pesticide residue on the plants.

The drugs don't kill people, the people kill themselves by taking too many and get addicted to them. Many many people only take pain pills if they really need them. I probably have thrown out more expired pain pills than i have taken while they were effective.
Yes, true. I feel the same about guns, but I would not hand out guns indiscriminately to just anyone, especially young troubled people. Same with the pills. They are stronger and more addictive than ever, there is a thriving black market for them, and peoples' children are dying. Slow the flow, and it might make a difference. Dr could have prescribed 5 to my kid rather than 50. We could have asked for more if he needed it.

That's Lynda, some days are harder than others. My back has gotten to the point that just too much is bad. Any amount of physical labor kills me especially if I have to bend at the waist. Feet automically start burning & going numb & that's when I trip on a roots, hose, mole hills, fences &;any other dumb thing I can find to trip over.
:( And the older I get, the farther away the ground seems before I land with a big thud. Amazing how you keep going.:hugs
I am a baby about pain, but I only take my advil on occasion. Nurse told me it's because I am a redhead. More sensitive to pain and drugs and stuff. I don't want to be special that way!

Lisa, that describes exactly what I've been going through. Only thing that helps is to lay down on my side in fetal position for 30 minutes. I think it's sciatica but don't have money or insurance to have it checked out. Meloxicam is helping a lot.
Sorry you've been going through this garbage too Jane. Back pain is a horrible thing. I use my ice pack a lot. I'm in sorta the same boat. We have insurance but the co-pays are so expensive & having to meet huge deductibles make it hard to pursue anything concerning my back. Very sad :hit

Just told my mom this morning when she stopped for a visit that I felt like a big redwood falling in the forest. She laughed & said she was glad I could still joke about it. The thing is, that's just what I've felt like with these last 2 falls. It was like slow motion, I remember thinking OMG I can't rebreak these wrists & when I hit the ground, I hit it full force & it reminded me as a tree falling in the forest lol.

:( The dr did warn us not to take Tylenol with the prescribed meds because it would be too much. Luckily, the surly teen mostly relied on the advil, which goes through the kidneys. I am probably ruining my kidneys... good thing I've got 2... so far...

I can't imagine a dentist prescribing 50 pain pills for wisdom teeth removal. Never even had that many for my brain surgery
I'd have to see if I still have the prescription. Maybe it was 30 . I just remember being shocked at how much was prescribed.
