I think she wants the wood in its natural structure so it would look better, so she only needs to level a few points. The logs won't be cut down like the picture... That's if I'm reading campings mind right.....

Camping, A plane is so very hard to use. Mucho muscles.  If I were to attempt that I guess I would make the top first then as one solid piece I could tell what needs to come off and possible chalk line it  an electric sander maybe ? Im not sure either.  There has to be a saw that slices

then you already have it figured out. the next step would be a wide belt sander with a frame

ditto so I just lock my arms and then fall backwards onto a chair the tool tends to come along for the ride
 
OH my oldest youngest EE pullet (only ee survivor of the cinnamon queens) just started laying the prettiest darkish sky blue egg the dels have been laying for a couple weeks
those cinn Q. did in some of Lisas birds too. She said they were very mean. I got lucky. the 2 I have are sweethearts.
