Granny's gone and done it again

I worked in my garden some today. Ive been wetting the super dry clay so i can pull up weeds & till. It was a slow go of it. It was 88* at 4pm today. Im having to water everyday.

Oh, the clay, do NOT miss the clay at all --- that "soil" was the bane of my existence while we were living in Indiana.
Mornings all, up early for me . 6:30 Bus is late, still thundering out.
CB brought home another pretty paper with its gold seal . Honor roll yet again !

Welcome, Pattyhen!
The trick is to come along and look for Sally Sunshine's posts -she does a fabulous job of recapping things in one, easy to follow, post.

would it hurt the older ones to go back to grower for a month or so with oyster shell on the side ??

Not at all, twist - that is actually what I feed at all times as I prefer the nutrition of grower over that offered by most layer feed.
Granny I'm in New Albany, In. I don't think it's real close to you. I'm down to 9 chickens here that's the least I've had for years. I've got 3 senior citizen chickens. One bantam cochan roo and a hen and one silkie roo. Then the head roo is a mutt but he protects the girls and does his job. I've got 3 easter eggers and 2 buff orphington hens. My bantam cochan hen is in the icu ward better known as the laundry basket in the hallway. I don't know what is wrong with her but she can't walk she can stand for short periods but she can't take steps with her legs. I don't know if she fell off the perch and hurt her back or not. She is eatting good and drinking and her color is great. She's been like that for about a week now. I hope and pray she gets better. How many chickens do you have Granny?

New Albany isn't all that bad of a drive from Madison (I lived just outside of Madison until this past July when we moved back to Oregon).
So sorry to hear about your little hen. Have you picked her up and given her a thorough once over to see if you can locate the issue with gentle palpation and close examination?

Good morning everyone. It's a new day. Storming here. I wish there was somewhere for me to go. Devins off to work. I shall ?????? Do something?????
Get out of the house - even if it's just to go sit at a coffee shop, a change of scenery can do wonders for the mindset -- or even if it's just to go sit in the car at the park and give yourself half an hour of peace and space to yourself.

Coffee shop sounds good. U are in washington state. I just had coffee & left over warmed up cream cheese blueberry crescent roll. Saw on tv this am how to make apple crescents.
