That's a better idea...   show a little respect and learn why we have a veteran's day, rather than just a day off of school, which is all it is here.  Sometimes I feel like a fish out f water.  People are freaking out over the election results.  Guess democracy is only good if you get your way, and the much valued "tolerance" only applies to people who agree with them.  Lotta loonies floating around.

we have school here. vets are coming to school and all the kids walk across the street to the high school to meet and great them. He is still going a lot. He missed the bus this am because of it so I kept him home.

They do an EXCELLENT Veteran's Day program in that school district! The vets all get a full breakfast in the hour before school (parking directed by the FFA, meal hosted by the FFA and a couple of other student groups) where they get to visit with each other *and* the kids get a chance to meet/visit with them. After breakfast there is a big assembly where the vets are seated front and center and all the kids 6-12 are in teh bleachers around them -- they call the roll of every veteran present so each gets to stand and be recognized and then there are the usual speeches, etc by officials, pledge and colors by students, the band plays -whole thing is just amazing (went every year because DD was in band and then FFA - and because DH was one fo the veterans).

Dear CB -- the answer is "Because shes Granny and she said so" -- that is the answer to any/every thing she might say to you that would lead you to want to say "Why" --- so, now that you know that is the answer, there is no reason to ask ever again.... ....if/when Granny asks or tells you to do something, the words that come from your mouth should be, 'Yes Ma'am" and then you do whatever it was she said to do..........
