Granny's gone and done it again

Two eggs from today. Darker is from my Marans and the smaller light brown is the first egg from my blue Wyandotte. Wah-hoo!! They are in an egg skelter that my sweetie gave me for Christmas. A nice surprise!

Indeed but I think that the Hobby falcon Falco subbuteo is more beautiful!
And what about the Sooty falcon Falco concolor? The all black one!


When I was younger I followed for more then 8 year after a anual Hobby falcon nesting near my house. This bird is a Summer migratory bird, and it usually came at the beginning of June, and finished the nesting at the end of August, as the falcon family dose not bild nests they usually used an abandoned nest of crow. I so them eating many birds species but the most impressive was a catch of a European bee eater in midair! 35 years after and I still remember it!

Beautiful birds, I agree! And some spectacular footage, especially in that last video and 1:46 of the first video. I wonder how they got the camera up there. Perhaps they found an abandoned nest and placed it there hoping falcons would claim it? I don't know how you would get it up there after they'd had their babies, that's for sure.


wow, that must have been amazing! the most amazing bird I ever saw was a kingfisher flying over a river and diving for fish when I was little. It was so close to us, and I'll never forget the vibrancy of its feathers.Another (Albeit not quite as magical) experience was seeing a small group of drakes separating a mother duck from her baby, then drowning the baby so they could mate with her! Also owls, choughs, ravens, barnacle geese - All beautiful! One Bird I would really love to see is a corn crake, I have heard them so many times, but they are so elusive, I've never caught a glimpse of one - Same thing with woodpeckers.

(Not my video) These are a bit more local for me! There were red kite sanctuaries near to where I used to live. I got excited every time I saw one, they're quite distinctive when you see them from below.

Maybe everyone is in a food coma!     Granny must be having fun with Lisa, since we haven't heard from her all day.  I had a supremely lazy morning, then sis and I went into town to look around while hubs and the boys went to see the new Star Wars movie.  Home before dark to get the chores down and now I am sitting down to catch up, only there is not much catching to do.

Twist, has all the snow melted?  

Camping, what will you do with all the kid stuff you are no longer keeping. I have such trouble parting with stuff because I hate things going to waste, sentimental reasons too.  I have the wooden building blocks from my childhood!  What am I supposed to do with those?

I come from a loooooooooooooooong line of hoarders. My grandparents had 5 acres of junk and garbage. My parents have 2 giant sheds in their back yard. I have junk in every bedroom, but no outbuildings and no storage units. So I'm getting better. DD is also ultra sentimental. She keeps feathers and all her math homework, stuff like that.

There's a fb auction site I'm a member of where I'm going to list things. Also a consignment shop in big town that pays upfront for clothes and toys. I made $50 last time I went there. I sold three outfits on the fb site before Christmas and that was $18. So it's more work for me, but bigger payout on fb. If you want I can pm you pics of the kids' room, and you'll feel so much better.

 

LOL   so save the ones that have the sentimental memories and the good stuff and donate the rest to  a thrift store or maybe a local day care.    There is always the dreaded rummage sale option as well.  

Everything is good!      Everything has sentimental value!        I need professional help.

Mornings, Just getting my eyes open. CB and Rod slipped out the door . I dont know if they are outside or went somewhere. We plan on going out today to a couple few places. Everyone wants to go which leaves no room in the car.
We had a ton of rain and coops are muddy and turkey is limping.
I finally got to taste venison in the form of summer sausage and peppered sticks and BOY is it good! Also pheasant jerky. I didnt care for that as much but its ok. Its hard for me to eat.
Lisa has made sure I have enough antibiotics to last a few years for the chickens and turkey. LOL She said that is pox on the turkey soo can they get it twice ? Its mild on it. I think it is ground zero for the rest of them but who knows.
Split pea soup and home made bread yesterday. hahahaa It was goooood.............. I ate 3 bowls all together. 2 for dinner and one at bedtime.
Internet seems to be working good this am. Must of been the rain.

My husband is a hoarder and I am borderline. I make him watch the hoarding shows to show him how bad it can get. He literally will not throw stuff away. I have gotten much better. I don't like wasting things. I keep a big black trash bag in my van. Anytime I find something to donate is stick it there . I take the bag to the thrift store. It is black so I can't see in it and change my mind.

Red kite! That is something that I would love to see! They are very VERY rare in Israel ! Ee have planty of black kite (common kite?) Milvus milvus but no red kite! We have here 3 species of kingfishers here

We live in the summer breeding grounds of the swallow tailed kite. I usually see one per year circling overhead. The most I've seen at once is 5. The closest I've seen is one swooping over the pond. They eat fish and seem to like the river nearby. DWF has a link to call and report sightings.

Red kite! That is something that I would love to see! They are very VERY rare in Israel ! Ee have planty of black kite (common kite?)

Oh. Well they're getting more and more common here! I don't think I've seen a common kite before.
That third one is stunning! The one I saw was the second one, he was very small.
