Tonight's supposed to be colder.

It did ok in the buckets. I'll drain the big waterers.

Oh dear! Try putting straw in a large plastic or rubber container than putting a smaller container filled with water in the straw. The straw insulates the water so it doesn't freeze as much. It works very well with our chickens and barn cats.

Clearwater is our favorite! Been going since 99! Was it on the main strip?

What size buckets ? do you have a temp. it will work to ? I have seen the cat houses like that but never thought of the water .

We use rubber containers like this for the chickens:

And for the cats we use plastic containers from the kitchen, lol. The water doesn't freeze down to like -5, and it gets slushy around -10, and below that it starts to freeze. These are rough estimates, but I'd say they're pretty accurate.

Went out to feed critters. Got 8 eggs. Fed them to cats as i have no water to wash them. Not that cold to me. Dh said it was terribly cold.

Do you always wash your eggs?

I have learned from "The powers that be" my humidity was too low . I should of had it between 25-35% til lock down. I did not. The white became thick and the chicks unable to absorb it . This led to them drowning in the shell or like the one I culled this am. It leaves a jelly like substance in there.
My retelling of this is not the exact right words but you can get the drift I hope.
Its not over yet as the little pip is still alive I know and the last 3 eggs still nothing.
I used to be a lot better at this then I am now but if you dont use it .........

Well, at least you learned what the problem was. Hopefully the other ones will turn out okay though. I've never incubated before so I don't have a clue about any of this. I think I've learned the most about chickens because of all the mistakes I've made, lol.
