Granny's gone and done it again

Granny...so now we know what is wrong with the pup.
How do you stop/prevent the other dogs getting it?
Did they have the shots?

I am overwhelmed with it all. The others dogs had their shots and some boosters but not for a few yrs. Star has allergic reactions and vet said he would need to special order her shots so she only got one at a time. and would get them every 2 weeks The parvo shot booster at TSC is a 5 in 1. same one that made her so sick.
How do you bleach a house ? Carpet, sofas..

My TSC carries a 5 n 1 shot and a 7 n 1 shot.
I think one is for pups and one for adult dogs.
Not sure.

I have no idea how you bleach the inside of the house.

Im going to research more right now and Ill tell you what I WOULD DO if I were dealing with Parvo.

OK....30 parts water to one part bleach will kill it.
Don't they sell bleach that doesn't turn stuff white.

Hold on...I didn't research enough

OK I think you need to mostly worry about cleaning stuff that his bottom could have dragged on/rubbed up against.
It's in the feces. So mostly worry about where he poops and sleeps.
Wash all his bedding and treat the outside areas first.

They do make color safe bleach....I would get that and a spray bottle....and mist areas that he lays. And definitely treat the outside area.

IHold on...I take all that back.
I am over thinking this.

He has parvo...he didn't just get it yesterday....
Which means your other dogs have already been exposed to it.

They had shots when they were young...they haven't gotten parvo yet so they probably won't get it..right? (Im thinking out loud here)

I would wash his bed/blankets for sure.
I would clean what I could with a bleach solution...basically the floors.
I would for sure spray some bleach around the yard.
And that's it.

It's really not as bad as it seems.
There is only so much you can do.

From now on since for a fact you have had parvo on your land you must vaccinate the new dogs for sure. Period.
That's all you really can do.

Pass a mop with some bleach..wash his bed....throw some bleach in the yard and call it a day.

''Indoors, virus loses its infectivity within one month" while outdoors,''Freezing is completely protective to the virus. If the outdoors is contaminated and is frozen, one must wait for it to thaw out before safely introducing a new puppy. Shaded areas should be considered contaminated for seven months whereas areas with good sunlight exposure should be considered contaminated for five months.'' Of course, it never hurts to err on the side of caution and wait longer before adding a new puppy.
So now what should owners do if they have other puppies living in a Parvo contaminated area? There is really not much more than can be done than picking up all the feces and disinfecting the contaminated areas where there are chances the Parvo virus may be thriving. The only product to seem to be effective in killing the virus is bleach. Disinfestation is accomplished by using diluted bleach and water in an exact ratio of 1:30, one part bleach in 30 parts water. In order to work, the bleach mixture should be left in contact with contaminated surfaces for at least 10 minutes.
Of course, if used on grass, the grass will die ( but ultimately better than having the virus thrive on it!) and of course, the bleach cannot be used on couches or carpets as it will stain. Bedding, bowls, blankets and toys that may be contaminated by the virus are better off tossed. Puppies should not be introduced to homes where there is a history of Parvo until at least a month has passed or at least 7 months have passed for contaminated yards.

If I were you I would spray bleach EVERYwhere!   Who knows where he picked it up from.....You could have been walking in town and go some on your shoe and brought it home.
Someone could have dropped some off unknowingly when they visited.
CB could have been exposed to it at school and brought it home.
There is NO way to figure out how the virus got there but now you know for sure it is there, I would try to get rid of it the best you can.

I wonder if the cold weather kills it???

Ill be right back....
gonna research a little

You have to treat everywhere that he's been. Passed by fecal matter but if he steps in his poo and tracks it with his feet... and you should bleach the bottom of every pair of shoes that's been out in the past few weeks.
