Granny's gone and done it again

Mavis isn't broody. She broke one egg and buried the other three.

Maybe she's still in the clutch building stage of her cycle. Got to lay a few more eggs before the brooding hormones kick in.

I'm thinking she might not have the genes for it. Her mama went broody and did fine until the chicks started hatching. She killed every one that hatched til I took the rest and gave them to two other broodies. Put her back in the roost and she never looked back.

just got the broth separated from the chicken and bones. Pretty easy except for a ton of tiny bones. all the bones turned white . waiting for broth to cool and I will be done. I didnt add anything at all to it except water. I hope pup will take it. I wondered if I should add salt but will wait and ask the vet.

you and the darn salt shaker Salt might dehydrate the pup even more. Now if you want to save some of that good stock for your self then a LITTLE salt.

I have probably processed about 700 chickens in my lifetime and that looks completely normal all the yellow stuff is fat (you fed it well) and the little white things are kidneys I think are maybe rooster parts. My memory isn't excellent.
those would be "nuggets" you know the things you ladies are determined to remove from all males any species and that was ONE FAT bird.
I thought that is what it was but wasn't sure never really paid attention to what the parts were just pulled them out.

And just saying I am one of those males from any species.

So crust story I make up a single pic crust and after it is blended and I battle with saran wrap ( OMG I ABHOR that stuff) and get it ready to chill in fridge I am thinking there is something just not quite right with it. Go an get a pair of "cheaters" and read the recipe again and sure enough it was 1 1/4 cups of flour NOT the 1 1 /2 I used. well at least it was wrapped for the hens. Made a second crust and it was fav if I do say so my self. Dinner was a big hit, OTHER then Rod's son who is a "good eater" but then sat at the table and belched thru at least 1/2 of the dinner. IF it hadn't been Rod's bday dinner and his son WORDS would have been said.
